Brilliant to use during the Winter months but a pain to clean afterwards, below we discuss the best way to clean your fireplace, leaving it safe to use whenever necessary.
When preparing to clean the fireplace, make sure to dress in old clothing, put on a pair of rubber gloves and also cover the surrounding floor area. Don’t attempt to clean a fireplace until after 24 hours of last use. Look up into the chimney with a flashlight, locate the flue and then keep it open till you’re finished cleaning. Use a metal chimney brush (with pole) to get rid of any soot/creosote.
To clean the walls, use a wire brush and mixture of bleach and water. Start from the top and work your way down. When done, rinse the chimney walls with a wet sponge. Close the flue and then your fireplace is ready to be used again.
