Automatic garage doors are a step above your standard garage door, due to how they can open automatically at the push of a button. They are particularly suited to situations where you are storing a vehicle within the garage, as it eliminates the need to step out of the car to open the door, but they are also useful in other situations as well, and for the same reason. Being able to avoid bad weather when exiting your car is certainly the main advantage of an automatic garage door.

The way an automatic garage door works is usually through a transmitter; connected to a remote control, and a transceiver; which is connected to your garage door. They work by requiring the correct pass-code to verify that the owner is the one transmitting the signal to the transceiver. By typing in the correct code to your remote control, you can open the garage door from a close distance. Often times, these remote controls will be designed for quick and easy installation within your car. Most people choose to have the remote placed on the roof of their car, so that when they are waiting outside of the garage, all they have to do is type in the code and then the garage door will open.

You can have a wide variety of garage doors outfitted with an remote access feature. Some great garage doors which work really well with the feature will include a sectional overhead door, and roller shutter door. Both of these can open up quickly, without taking up any space in the opening process. This is very useful when you are in the car, as it allows you to drive up right next to the opening, without any risk of getting hit by the garage door as it opens.
